Going Price for a SAR-4800

Hi all,

What is the general consensus on the fair price for a Springfield SAR-4800 in excellent condition? How would you rate the quality of these in comparison to the other Imbel imports?

Thanks!

Stink

I mean 48, and it is 7.62. Don't know if that matters any.

4800: $1100 max

48: $1500

The SAR48 and SAR4800 are the only factory assembled Imbel imports and are high quality firearms.

thanks, they are nice, how do they compare to the last imbels that were imported as imbels into the US, are they exactly the same rifle?

Not trying to be an ass here, but... (you know it was coming) you asked...

Those are great firearms... they truly are and have collectible status. But, from shootablity... I would take a Sledgehammer built or Gunplumber built FAL all day long for the same price.

I guess what I am saying is I would love to have one, but it really doesn't matter to a collector like me unless I am filling a "gap" on a collection.

I would advertise it in the newspaper or gunbroker if you really wanted to make a profit.

YMMV

I know, I feel the same way. At one time it was a "pre-ban", now it's just another imbel.

Still a "pre-ban" in some states.

A few months ago i bought a NIB SAR48 with 800rds of win white box ammo & 20 new mags for less than $1500 - This is a buyers market now & if you want top dollar wait for O'bammie or 1 of his henchmen to utter the words "Assault Weapons Ban" & then post it on GunBroker, you'll be smiling all the way to the bank

What these are worth is fairly subjective, I would suffice it to say
that if someone offers you a SAR 4800 for $1,100 you should take it.
The notion that the post ban ban guns are somehow defective in some
way is lunacy. You can barely get a DSA built rifle for $1,100. You will
rarely ever see a SAR 48 for sale here and when you do they are almost
always more than $1500.

Everything I've seen indicates that the post ban rifles are the same as the pre-ban, only with an ugly stock. So I'd rather not pay $500-$700 more for the same rifle (outside of $140 922r compliant kit from Gunpartsguy). Maybe there is a collector value to them, but I typically buy firearms to shoot, so that isn't so much of an issue for me. And if you need to sell one for some reason, you stand a better chance of getting your money back out of a rifle built (imported) by SAI - a known name in the industry. For Cleetus at the gun show, the best assembled collection of parts is more than likely just another kit rifle, and that's how he'll price it.

Two totally different meanings.

Yeah, I know, "Grammer-nazi."

You've been duped; it's a duplicate.
