Eotech 553 vs. 556
I've been scanning the Eotech site trying to decide which model would be best for my DSA para with the extreme duty mount. I've sort of settled on either the 553 or the 556. I'd kind of like to have NV capability, which only the 556 appears to have. However, the 553 has dual throw levers, which would seem to be good for quick mounts/dismounts while probably still retaining the zero. Can anyone comment as to whether this mounting system is better than the one on the 556?
I guess if I could specify my ultimate Eotech, it would be a combination of the 553 and 556 with the dual levers and the NV capability plus the .XR308 ballistic drop compensated reticule you can get with the 552. They don't appear to make such an animal, though.

I can't answer your question as to which one would be better, but I have read that if you have a non-NV compatible EoTech, you can still use it fine with NV goggles on the lowest setting.
I have one EoTech that's NV capable, and one that isn't, but no NV goggles to test the theory with, so I can't tell you from personal experience. |

I can vouch for the throw levers. I have moved it between my FN and SOCOM and it had the same POI on each one when swapped. Long battery life.

The 553 has a NV setting.
It will retain zero. I don't know anything about the 556.

Ok, thanks guys. If I can do NV with the 553, that seems to be the clear choice.
