SCAR Shooters?

Anyone picked up a SCAR yet ? I'm wondering if they're worth getting in line for, or it's yet another one of those too tactical for me things.

Granted I haven't even seen one, but I still see no reason to spend the extra money on the SCAR when an XCR, SIG 556, etc... will do the same thing for less, other than bragging rights, of course. If you just want another toy, then don't let me get in the way.

I'm saving cash for one. I think it will be the future weapon for all the Army.

I fondled one of the .223 and one of the .308 at the NRA convention. They seem light for caliber but kind of klunky to handle. When they are at the shoulder they seem fine, but otherwise something is just a little strange. Maybe because the lower is lighter than the upper without a magazine and ammo. The other thing is that with the plastic lower everything is thicker than what I'm used to....I have the same problem with the plastic handled pistols. I don't have the plastic problem with the FAL because those plastic bits have their extra thickness to the inside....the outside, where I come in contact , is the right size. On these newer toys, the makers have to put some of the extra material that the plastic requries on the outside and I find it not to my liking.

Ive got one and its a pretty solid weapon. Very accurate and reliable. Better stock setup than anything weve come up with yet(retractable and folding..). Full length rail on top, etc. You really dont have to add anything to this weapon. I financed an FN package so I got mine at wholesale so I think its worth the money. I wouldnt pay 4K for one but mid 2Ks is would be fine if they come down a tad.

It shoots well and uses standard AR mags and accessories. I still prefer my original Steyr AUG for handling characteristics though.

Mine with Eotech 553

I've only handled one. It was much more impressive "in person" than any photo I've seen.
That funky looking stock actually feels pretty good and the rest of it all feels "right" when you pick it up. Better than the SIG. For me anyway.
I still won't shell out the cash for either one though.

I bought one about a month ago. It goes with the rest of the FN collection. I think it's the way military small arms will go in the future. Takedown is easy and becomes second nature right away. Internally, it's very simple and shoots very clean. Accuracy is better than expected, less than MOA with match ammo. I had no malfunctions and the brass deflector keeps the anodized aluminum kiss free. The buttstock will become the model by which future buttstocks are judged. I't's a little fragile IMO but nobody buttstrokes the enemy anymore.
It's truly amidextrous, I'm a lefty so I switched the cocking handle to the right side. While the cocking handle recipocates, I don't mind as I grew up with M1's, M14's and AK's.

My only complaint is that it's not black.

I have added an Aimpoint, Insight M6X light/laser and VFG. I'd post a picture but I don't know how.

BTW, I got out the door with it for just under 3k including tax and transfer. Since FN recently raised the list price to $2998.00 I'm very happy with the purchase.
