Changing stock on Polish Tantal?
Folks,
I've got a Polish Tantal that I'm thinking about swapping the folding wire stock for a fixed stock. How big of a hassle is this? Can it be accomplished on the homefront? I ask because of the rivets where the base of the folding stock is mounted. Are there folks that ya'll would recommend to do the work? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks folks!

I'm not quite sure what rivets you're talking about at the base of the folding stock. There should be two rivets (with heads on both sides of the receiver) that hold the rear trunion in place...
If this is what you have and somebody hasn't cobbled together something funny with your gun, all you need to do is remove the small screw on the tang, remove the pistol grip, and pull the folding stock off the rear of the gun. Depending on who built it, you may or may not have the two small roll pins also holding the stock module to the rear trunion. You can see these two roll pins by removing the receiver cover and looking at the rear trunion from the top. If you see two small roll pins near the dovetail that captures the rear of the recoil spring assembly, just drive them through from top to bottom with the appropriately sized punch and then pull the stock from the rear of the receiver. Plug in a fixed stock and it's screws and you're good to go... Forrest |
