Skered & Bore Guides
Skered mentioned in an associated thread that he made a bore guide for ARs that were chambered in 6.8 SPC. I shot him an e-mail and recieved a prompt reply. $30.00 to your door seemed like a good price for something that was more than a turned down piece of PVC, so I ordered one. For an additional $5.00 he threw in a prototype FAL bore guide. I ordered on the weekend and recieved the bore guides in the mail on Friday. Good product and prompt service, what more could you ask for?
The AR guide is based on a piece of aluminum tube that goes through two pieces of plastic material that are sized to fit inside of the reciever. The front piece is adjustable on the aluminum tube. The FAL guide is two piece, which is required to deal with the ejector. it's sort of cumbersome, but I can't think of a way of improving it. You have to insert the front piece in the chamber, and put the back piece over the cleaning rod, then couple them together when you insert the cleaning rod into the chamber. My description probably isn't as good as the bore guide. The bore guide does keep your cleaning rod centered in the bore, and prevent you from dragging the cleaning rod on the ejector with every stroke of the rod. |

Thanks Texasbubba
Bore guides fabricated for ALL AR calibers, (making one for .50 Beowulf now).
Also going to start making them for bolt action rifles once I have some dimensions. This started with a HK 93 guide, I fab 'em for the G3 / HK91 too. Regards, On-the-dole-Derek. skered53@yahoo.com P.S. = not everyone has the ability to load dummy rounds, The primer pocket will be completely drilled out and a FMJ crimped in plae. So if someone needs some, please e-mail me. |
