FAL shorty in "The Wild Geese"?
Some plot spoilers and I don't want to ruin an AWESOME movie for you, so read with care........
Been watching this movie, and it pops up a couple times, but is more visible during the rush to the plane. The mustacioed merc, who I believe was the soldier turned plumber during the interview scene, has an interesting rifle. It looks to be a super short (sub para) FAL---he uses alot of 30 round mags too. Watch when he and Richard Burton are running to the plane and the SGT Major gets killed you can see some good shots. Anyone else see this? KNow what it is? Some custom job? Also, most of the FAL's seem Brit pattern w/wood but prior to the above scene, but same battle it looks like one guy has an STG 58. He's firing it in semi, kneeling down, from the waist. He gets hit and the black merc who is next to him hammers harder with his Uzi. Cool movie, love it, always have. Lots of neat FAL action and other guns too. BradLaGrange |

Saw the film years ago and thought it was fantastic. At times amusing, at times shocking.
A good movie, but still a movie though. Lots of Hollywood. |

Oh Yeah, the ultimate Fal movie. Everyone should get a copy now that it is available again.
http://www.amazon.com/Wild-Geese-30t...0624040&sr=8-1 It was considered too politically incorrect to print for awhile. I remember seeing VHS tapes of it going for $75! Interesting trivia from the imfdb link - Ian Yule (Tosh) fought with Mike Hoare in the Congo. |

There are some other merc movies out there---Dark of the Sun/Mercenaries, Red Berets, and I think one called "Skin them Alive". Most are basically movies built around alternating between scenes the whites vs. blacks committing the worst attrocities. BUT they usually have interesting rifles.

Wild Geese for $75? Crazy. Of course before the DVD release old Convoy VHS tapes were $45-$75----"Keep the bears off your ass and the bugs off you glass"

The Robert De Niro/Al Pacino movie, "Heat," has a brief glimpse of an FAL when one of the bad guys shoots an armored car guard with it. Of course, the downtown LA bank holdup running shootout is an impressive segment using black guns of all kinds.

The family was out shopping this afternoon so I couldn't help but to throw "The Wild Geese" in the DVD player while I cleaned my R1 kit
. Now I need to hurry and buy an upper. I called DSA and they said it would be 20 weeks
