HAND CYCLING ACTION ?????

Does hand cycling the action on new (less than 300 rounds) SA58 really help for a smoother action (less FTF issues) or is there a better way?????

I hand cycled my second one about 300-400 times before shooting it and it broke in in about 100 rounds and only had to turn the gas down once after the first adjustment. I pulled the extractor off the bolt and put a fired round in the chamber and just kept pulling back smartly and letting it fly forward. The other took about 350-400 rounds to smooth out. The one that I am building now I plan on trying some lapping compound on or stoning the rails first as that seems to be where all the roughness is.

Stop "hand cycling the action" the moment your vision gets fuzzy.
Otherwise you'll go blind.

It's been known to cause warts....

But a good lube smooths it up.
