Tri-Burst Kit, Full auto sear, availabilty, M-16/AR-15??

It's pretty funny that I can order a full auto sear, or a 3 round burst kit, from Bushmaster, I could frame it, hang it on my wall, look at it, love it, all for less than 100 bucks, but, I cant put in my rifle. That having been said I would like to purchase a full auto kit for one of my Bushmaster XM receivers. I dont plan on ever putting it my rifle unless a SHTF type event were to occur, both becuase of legality and expense of ammo. So, can anybody tell me what else i would need for my Bushmaster XM receiver other than the sear? Do i need the rehab kit for the full auto trigger? Are they considered M-16 or AR-15 components? What is availabilty like for these things? I have a strong feeling that this may be the last chance i have to legally buy these parts, if you know what I mean.

I'm pretty sure that if you have the parts AND the rifle they go in, you have constructive possession, and will go to jail if caught. To the ATF it's the same as having an unregistered full auto.

As far as the law goes, I believe it is legal to either possess the parts or the rifle, but not both.

I may be wrong, but I'm sure somebody will be along shortly who knows more about this than I do.

Thanks. I know that in the catalog it requires a tax stamp or FL to order it. I was under the impression that you could order the parts throught my FFL. Maybe not.

you can't just add the parts kit and off to the races. you will have to mech , your reciever and drill a 3rd hole, then add your NFA parts. then you get to spend 10 years in the FED pen with you new man as you will be there Bitch over a waste of Ammo. learn to shoot , and hit what you see. then you won't go to the pen, and you will save ammo. 1 shot 1 kill. but if you must break the law. stupidy will coast you time and $$ and you will never be able to own a firearm again. i hope this helps enjoy~RT

im thinking this is a ploy to get someone or more than one someone to commit a crime or aid in such ...........

that said the answers given seem adaquate to the question ,

my question is , can it be true that any tom-dick-or-harry can buy such parts ? the catalogs ive seen have a seperate section for those qualified to purchase such bits to inquire for them , gotta have the papers to buy ,

id be simply amazed if 'bushmaster' would sell such things to an unqualified recipeint , and without proper documents such an order might get you a visit by the BATF ...........and rightfully so ,

whats wrong with folks that they incist on discussing things that are illeagal as if its OK to break the law ?
if you want these things get the law changed , otherwise quit being such an idiot ,

Full-Auto parts

Bushmaster as far as I know won't sell FA parts to just anybody, Must prove you have a Form 4 or that your an FFL dealer or FFL/02 or 07 manufacture. Plus if you get caught with just the Full-auto parts only like the trigger group,Bolt carrier and a sear or drop in sear that is a federal offense in itself without even owning an AR-15. Funny how years ago Batf said even having a shoe string would constitute a machinegun device. Wait until they see the clowns filming themselves using the rubber ban method, Filming thier own prosecution/evidence and posting it on the web.

If I'm not mistaken, just talking about doing this could be construed as conspiracy to violate a federal firearms law. i am often wrong though.

Chris, if you've noticed, nobody's laughing, or even amused. Without the proper paperwork, properly executed, this is DEEP WATER. Federal firearms laws have teeth. Federal prosecutors have latitude. How 'bout you take this to the forums where somebody will play. You seem undisciplined and reckless to most of us here.
Just my opinion.

I believe that even typing the words full auto can get you 3 years in Leavenworth............maybe even Twelveworth.

Full au-

Hold on, I hear a knocking at the door gais. And some helicopters outside.

Seriously though, the triburst activator sucks. Hardcore. Breaks inlike 5 seconds, cheap trigger piece that basically tries to bump the gun for you.

Just get good at bump firing, or go to a range that rents fa's to play around with them.

In SHTF aimed semi auto fire would be more worth your while anyhow- keep in mind you'd have to conserve ammunition. Unless you're laying down suppressive fire for larger troop movements from something like a SAW it's kinda pointless beyond the fun factor.

Just make sure you don't have one of these laying around with a gun with a reciprocating charging handle:

Those who know what I'm talking about, you're good to go. Anyone else just do a google search so I don't have to violate this site's terms of service. Note that I do not recommend splicing parts of your shoes with your guns- or parts of tin cans that have been cut up just so or anything else that would violate the law. Not only are these things illegal but they are DANGEROUS.

Have heard of some pretty scary accidents from home made FA mechanisms. Not worth it. But you obviously have an interest in this stuff, so check out the ATF home page for info as well as some of the type 07 literature.

Best option- get your 07 occupational tax stamp and you can experiment with whatever you want legally.

Chris,

You may want to make contact with our very own resident gunsmith aka "partsdog". He can build a FAL without tools! I can only imagine what he could do to your rifle.

His first post, and he wants to know how to build a machine gun off paper.
