ABO USA
Back in 1998 I bought a Redfield Golden Five Star scope, right before Redfield went out of business and became part of Blount/CCI etc. I mounted the scope on my Model 70 .30-06 and discovered that it would not hold its point of impact setting. Per the instructions from Redfield, I sent the scope to ABO USA in Miami, who had the responsibility of all warranty work for Redfield.
They repaired the scope for $38.00 at my expense plus shipping and the repair lasted until this year. The same problem surfaced this summer, prior to deer season. Again I shipped the scope to ABO USA along with $38.00. They sent me an invoice stating that they received my scope, and that the $38.00 would cover the needed repair, but stated that they recomended that I upgraded the repair to $58.00 to their "Sunshine Birdie" plan that would cover parts and labor to gut the scope and upgrade the parts. I called them and said that I would send them the additional money to upgrade the repair. The man I spoke to was obviously having a problem with the english language but was understandable. He had a very thick asian accent. I finally understood that they wanted $58.00 on top of the already received $38.00. I asked him if he thought it was fair to charge me this much money for the repair of my scope after ABO repaired it only 10 years ago. My original repair invoice was included. He responded that they have a 90 day repair warranty. This gun was properly stored and only gently used once a year for maybe three shots. He laughed and explained that after that length of time the seals can go bad. I told him that my repair had nothing to do with the seals in the scope. I told him that for an additional $100, I could simply buy a Leupold VXI. He said that I would be surprised to learn that Leupolds contain parts from China. I did not respond to that remark, as every leupold that I own has given me years of trouble free service and I don't care where they get their parts. Also the customer service department is top notch and friendly. In the end, I told him to simply fix the original issue involving the point of impact, but to set the parallax for 50 yards so I could put this scope on a .22 rifle. I sent him an additional $15.00 to do that. I received the scope recently. Well, I mounted the scope on my Romainian Training rifle and went to the range. No matter what I did, the scope would not sight in, because it would stiil not change its point of impact. ABO USA you win. This scope will be trashed. Thanks for the heads up. I've pretty much settled on the Nikon Buckmaster brand for any further scope purchase. I've yet to have to return any of them for warranty work, but they claim to have a life time waranty if anything does go wrong with the scope.

I've seen similar comments about this company elsewhere.
