7.62x25 ammo

Is there anything exceptionally good or anything to avoid in the way of surplus ammo in this caliber?

Dans / Aim / Sportsmans guide / list Romanian, depends on if they still have it. Generally good stuff.

Avoid the SG bulgarian? that's under 10 cents IMO. Some of it's ok, some is not.

It's all corrosive btw so clean accordingly.

I buy S&B. It's new, it's brass cased, noncorrosive, and cheap.

Any military ammo will be corrosive.

1995 -1997 Century had free shipping on Polish Tokarev 7.62x25mm ammo and was 7 cents a shot to my door.

Clinton had cut off my Chinese 7.62x39mm ammo that was 8 cents back in 1993, and all I could get was expensive Russian ammo for 12 cents.

I was working 70 hours per week at a start up that was paying me more money than two engineers would normally get, so I kept ordering more Polish Tokarev ammo.

The only thing good I can say about the Polish ammo is that it always fires. The velocity varies from 1450 to 1550 fps.

The Czech ammo fires 80% of the time, but if it shoots, it will do 1550 fps.

Years later, I had cases of Polish ammo stacked 5 feet high and traded some at gun stores.

It had appreciated, but I did much better with the Microsoft stock I bought in 1994.

I got a reamer and made some long guns to shoot Tokarev ammo.
The Polish stuff is worthless for groups.
S&B can get groups.

What does it all mean?
Me and crappy surplus Tokarev ammo go way back.
I only buy S&B ammo now.
I pull down the S&B, put in my powder and my bullets.
S&B brass is a little better than Starline brass.

I just got another tin of romy and it has performed well and cheaply priced.

think of the non fires as traing aids for clearing jams etc!...

IMO, with the new administration, the attempted Illinois ban on the Tokarev handgun and the ammo for it could well be brought back.

It IS considered a "cop killer" round due to the velocity, which can defeat level II armor and put a hole through a k-pot.

Not that it's ever been used for that, but you know how they are.

I've got a case of Romanian coming from AIM. Will just have to try it out and see how it does when it gets here. Thaks for the info. Romy and Bulgarian are about the only things I've seen lately.
