Decent FAL Ammo?

While waiting for my FAL, trying to find some decent ammo.

Is this acceptable ammo? I was looking at the german or the LITHUANIAN as it is a more recent production run. (2004). How confident would you be ordering ammo made in the 1980's?

The brass is two different colors gold/silver...good/bad?

I found this site that pulls together prices/quantities from a number of different sites, thought I would pass it along.

I wish I could buy some 1980's production ammo. Most of my ammo is 1970's South African or Portuguese and it all shoots great. Production date is as important as how it's stored. Ammo from those two should have been stored under ideal conditions, ie, cool & dry.

The gold/silver coloring is from the annealing process wich is supposed to keep the necks from becoming too brittle. Most mil-surp ammo has had that process done. Look at it as a sign of quality rather than defect.

I think the Lith would be better for long term storage as it's packed in 200rd plastic sleeves. Just my .02.

It seems to do okay, although my experience with it has been with .303 Brit and 8mm Mauser. Given the nature of 7.62 NATO rounds, I'd be surprised if it wasn't any good. The .303 was great stuff!

8mm was woefully underpowered though . Damn SAAMI limits!
