Izzy HB gas block removal & redrill new
Ok, thought I could simply take the gas block pin out (which was a major PITA) and knock the block off like Gunplumber does in the video series. Not so with my gas block, all pins removed and pipe around gas block threads is actually folding back and forth at the top, accordian style after it mushroomed.
I decided to give up after mushing the pipe about a half inch and the gas block hadn't budged even after soaking it with WD40 for hours and heating the outer edge of it with a propane torch till it smoked for expansion. The barrel is new and I don't want to marr it anymore than I already have. Wrapped it, but the mushrooming pipe cut right through that. So, after I buy a new gasblock, since I can't find a used one, how do I drill the pin holes without a drill press? (this simple cheap part is getting more $$ everyday ) |

You don't. You either get someone with appropriate skill to do it, or buy yourself a drill press. A hand-held drill is not accurate enough to do the job. Ron
