Israeli headstamp marking
Have purchased some 7.62X51 ammo and there are several headstamps I cannot identify. They are:
Looks like a "K" and either a "n" or "u", dates range from 69 to 76, no NATO id mark. Also,"A", Nato id mark, date "74", and at bottom is "7.62". Any help identifing these headstamps is appreciated. [ August 10, 2001: Message edited by: EMDII ] |

K- Kynoch (ICI Limited), England, aka Imperial Metal Industries: Witton, Birmingham, England. The Stevens book indicates they ceased production in 1970, however. Kynoch used a couple of suffixes, and all may not be known.
A- PMP (although I'm unaware they EVER supplied a NATO contract) A- Netherlands A- Early Portuguese

Might the K and the N or U be Hebrew? I have some Israeli mags that are marked with what looks like a K over a U or N laying on its side... ??? [ June 30, 2001: Message edited by: cadillac ]

The only Israeli I've sen had the IMI headstamp, but this sounds plausible.
Is the 'K' not perpendicular to the primer? The odd 'K' is a Hagganah symbol used by the IDF. You see it on the Izzies, inside an oval usually. Anyone speak Hebrew?

Sounds right to me! I haven't seen any IDF surplus, so I'm unfamiliar. And working w/o a pic, I 'assumed' somewthing!

Yes hksigwaltherXglockXSA58 and EMDII, that is the headstamp except the "K" is laying on it's back. Also, the people at Southern Ammo said the ammo they sell comes from Israel. Almost half the 308 rounds I received Friday from Southern Ammo had the "TZ" headstamp.
Thanks for the help. I want to know where the ammo comes from that I shoot. |

Using a bullet puller, I "opened" one of the "Kn" rounds. Guess what? It is boxer primed. Thought others might want to know this. Southern Ammo is Number One with me.
