I have a lively argument going on here over whether or not the FAL is the most popular/widely issued assault/military select fire rifle after the AK and AR. Wondering as to a rough number on how many FALs have been manufactured?

About 5.5 million FN, a guess as to Brit, Cdn and Aussie 1.5 mil, Brazilian 400 K, Argy 120 K , DSA, judging from serial numbers, 25 K. A SWAG on SA and Rhodie maybe 200 K. The AK47 is easily the most widely used and issued weapon in the world, with somewhere near 50 million made. Somebody else may have better number, but some of these come from Blake Stevens book.
