Bandoleirs a threat to the American way of life?
I just received 1400 rounds of 8mm Mauser from Wholesale and every steenkin bandoleir has been snipped. What is up with that? Is this the brainchild of some clever bureaucrat in our nation's capitol who gets his rocks off by making life difficult for distributors who have to pay some schlepp to open every crate and snip each bandolier because the American public cannot be trusted with an unmolested piece of cotton fabric?

I have had the same experience with ammo that was in "battlepacks". They arrive and the crate has apparently been opened and all the packs are slit open but otherwise unmolested. This may be some kind of Demil process that the surplusing-sic, government demands, my guess anyway.

Was the ammo in a wooden crate inside the tin sealed cans? If so then the bandoleers aren't demilled they were meant to be tied to fit the individual carrying them. My case of 1400 rds of turkish ammo came like this. Also for your information the strippers can be used with 7.62mmm NATO and the heavy metal FAL mag loaders avalible From Tapco CDNN, and others.

The Radway Green battlepacks are slit open to stamp "Made in England" on the boxes. There is a requirement that ammo must be marked as to country of manufacture. I believe that this is due to an international convention on transfer of war material. The SA* and Hirtenberger BP's are already labeled and don't require stamping.
JMc *You will occassionally see some unmarked SA BP's, because their labels have fallen off after importation.

Thomas, was your crate sealed? My 8mm had been repacked in two 700 round cardboard boxes for shipping. The bandoliers have clearly been cut, the ends are not hemmed.
