ORF Galil Hammer Broke
I have a OHIO RAPID FIRE Galil #0072 and while out at the range today my weapon stopped working so I broke it down and found the hammer was broken at the hook. What caused this and what hammer do you recommend to replace the broken hammer?

I believe the galil's will take any normal AK H,T,S set. I would go with a single hook G2 set.

Why a single hook hammer and not double hook?

This weapon was built up from a parts kit onto a ORF receiver from what I was told.I am the second owner and I don't remember the name of the gunsmith that the previous owner said build it for him. The trigger, hammer and sear have no marks on it at all. No letters or numbers at all. but sides of the trigger were polished by someone. Could this be an original Galil hammer? Also I got a little confused (drunk) when I posted last night it isn't the hammer that broke but the HOOK on the trigger.

well, its odd, as neither the US h/t/d sets nor the originals are prone to breakage. Of course, if they are not US made, then it is unlikely that the gun is 922 compliant.
Since US h/t/d sets often need to be trimmed on the rear of the trigger to function correctly, its possible that without this modification, the trigger hung up, cauring the bolt carrier t shear the hammer shelf off Just curious what the manufacturer is, to see if a pattern of failures might develop. Arsenal are 1 claw are clearly marked, as are tapco 1 & 2 claw. The FSE is as well IIRC. Original are not, but will have dimples on them where the heat treat was tested. Probably a fluke.

I believe I have solved it. The hammer, trigger and sear look identical to the Power Custom Hammer that Midway sells. This unit uses a little screw on the front of the trigger and the back. I don't know the purpose of these screws but the front one also broke off. It is on the right side of the trigger and the hook is on the left side of the trigger. Once the area that holds the screw broke this allowed the the hook to travel forward . I am not sure why traveling farther forward would break the hammer. So Should I go With the C2 AK compliance parts(single hook) or is there other options?

sounds like the red star, either improperly adjusted, or it went out of adjustment (which is why I won't use them).
Good news is Power will probably waranty it - since they cost around $90, thats a good thing.
