Is this a good deal on ammo?
South African
980 rnds ( 7 battle packs ) - $129.99 http://www.ammodeal.com/Rifle.html I am getting a FAL STG58A, so being a newbie , I need to know what other ammo can I use. I know that 7.62xXXmm (.308) is the caliber, however what other sizes the ammo be in? My limited experience and assumption tells me that 7.62x39mm cannot be used. Thanks. |

Your StG58A will only eat 7.62x51, a.k.a. .308 Spartacus. South African ammo is considered good stuff.

South African ammo is accurate enough for plinking and general target practice. Further it is reliable and comes nicely sealed in vinyl battle packs. At $130 for 980 rounds it can't be beat. That is a really good price for SA .308.

You may only use 7.62x51 surplus and commercial .308 in your FAL-clone.
