Some of it is excellent, some is not. It's generally fine ammo, overall. Check the Ammunition forum, go back a month or two, read the discussions. Lots of info there.

Briefly, people seem to do well with Hirtenberger (Austria), Radway Green (British), Portuguese, and South African. Also DAG (Germany), Singapore and Malaysia.

Be wary of the South American stuff.

How could it not be good. most of it was made int the late 80's to early 90's. It's made to NATO specs. It's what the countries troops used when they went to war. Much of it is left because they didn't go to war and they have now swithced to .223 rifles.

Ammo today is the best deal going. Buy as much of it as you can. You can get even better deals by buying in quantities of
5k-10k. That may seem like alot but it won't go bad and may never be this cheap again.

I think I'll buy more next week.

Ditto on what Blag said. Hirtenberger, FN/Portugese, Radway Green, South African, are all great ammo. I havent tried the others. Don't buy the ammo from Chile.

Also read FREDS article in SGN every week. He really likes the S. African, and always has a great read.

Most of the NATO surplus ammo started life as decent ammo. Most still is. The problems of some stem from the quality (or lack of) in storage. RG 84 is considered risky, yet I have quite a few rounds that have given me zero problems and I will rely on this particular batch, but will not buy more. It's problems supposedly stem from storage. Some of the Chilean ammo is OK, some is not. Same reason. Dunno about the Israeli ammo of certain years, but usually Israeli stuff is desirable. Not so with some of their surplus ammo, maybe storage?
