Sight question
I've never been good at figuring this out, so I thought I would ask
the pros before I do anything. An HK91 clone has the rear sight moved all the way to the left, as far as windage goes. I want to be able to move the rear sight a little more to the right. I thought I might be able to do this by thinning out the front sight post with a dremel, which would also give me a finer sight picture. The question:as I'm looking down the sights, which side of the front post would I dremel to be able to move my rear sight so it is more centered? Thanks

So if the rear sight is all the way to the left... and you need to move it to the right... why can't you just move it to the right? Why are you wanting to futz around with the front-sight?
You would shave the right side of the front-sight to move your groups to the right, if that's what you're asking (which is a really bad idea, if you ask me). |

Andy, normally I wouldn't mess with these things, but I
mostly just want to thin the front sight post a little. It is zeroed now where the rear sight sits, but I would like a finer front sight post. It just seems a little too wide. I don't want to shave the wrong side, and not be able to get the windage I need, as it won't go any farther left. Maybe I'll just learn to live with the thick front sight post.

As Andy stated, you would shave the right side.
F.O.R.S. Foward Opposite, Rear Same. I'm not familiar with the 91, if the front sight has elevation adjustment by rotating that would screw up your windage also. Seems to me there is a better fix. |
