Kit Loadout of Will Smith's Character in "I Am Legend" movie?
Can anyone confirm the equipment stuck to the AR type rifle Will Smith's character has on his rifle in the movie "I am Legend", especially the optics he uses. It looks almost Russian with the markings / chevrons? And the hand guards?
It will settle an argument :-) Thanks all! |

Sort of answering my own question, it appears to be some form of Trijicon ACOG sight, but I cant spot the exact one that has the same sight picture as in the movie?

Thanks for the reply!
I thought it looked Russian (the reticle pattern)! - Is that feasible - the inertion of a Russian reticle into a Trijicon, or is that just Hollywood up to its tricks again? Thanks... |

Could be mistaken, but that sure did look like a chinese made fake ACOG on his rifle.

Looks like a 16" M4 barrel, UTG rails and covers
and an ACOG - although I hear in the movie the ACOG has a SVT reticle(?)I really want that extra long sling! Pentagon MD3R light, that curiously seems to switch sides of the rail. on the left; on the right; And a tub pic ;

If I was sleeping with an M4 in the tub I would at least close the stock.
OTOH he obviously has no plans to fire the weapon judging by where he routed the wire for the pressure switch. |

I just watched the movie and, while this thread isn't exactly about the movie, I thought that I'd mention anyway that I thought that the movie sucked...

Before Uncle Sugar sucked up all of "US" Colts M4A1 production capacity, Colt supplied different barrel lenghts for the M4 family, 11.5" to 16" in two twists 1/7 and 1/9, and in Government or Heavy profile, depending on the customer's wishes. Ah,..I'll take one of each! |

Besides he woke up the next morning in the bed... and the sunlight was streaming in the window. When (and why?) did he open up the window shutters?
And what about the arms locker down at the front door? Neville had a different AR for each day of the week... DK

As for the ACOG reticule, one shouldn't expect that the reticule seen on the screen will match that on the riflescope. The camera does not actually film through the riflescope, so the reticule must be added later, after the camera shot is filmed. I'm sure that the guys who add the reticule pick out what they think will be most entertaining to the audience. Actually, I thought it was a pretty decent remake, and I did like the Chuck Heston version. I wasn't too crazy about the Vincent Price version, though, but it was OK. Richard Matheson, the original author, really was one of the great sci-fi authors. |
