Looks like the same kits Interordnance has for sale except the IO kits come with a new US made barrel for $10 more. At least that was their special deal the last time I looked. I have no experience with these particular kits but your chances of getting an "excellent" condition kit are better from Centerfire than from IO however the Centerfire kit dosn't come with a barrel.... I think if I was wanting an inch pattern kit I'd post a WTB ad right here on the files and KNOW exactly what I'm getting.

If you don`t have your heart set on an inch rifle, Sarco has metric kits with new Argentine barrels for $250.

Did some of those 25K+-? rifles the Aussies were going to destroy make it here sans barrels? Maybe with the barrels wacked that was destroyed enough?

Sure looks that way or maybe they were already in the pipeline heading here when the barrel ban went into effect. Maybe someone here who knows more about this can enlighten us.

Real question is where to get a barrel? DSA doesn't sell an L1A1 version...

Aussie weapons

Austrailia has supplied/sold weapons as in L1A1's to most of the Pacific rim basin countries in the past. Plus brokers have been known to buy these weapons and park them in another country until they can find buyers for them. You'd be surprized whats sitting in third world countries, But with the barrel import ban in place most brokers don't want to look at such investments. Also what most brokers are looking for right now is small arms munitions. BIG demand right now for new weapons and munitions in some countries that haven't bought anything new in over 20 years now.

That was a 'personal interpretation' of 922(r) from the then AG Gonzales.

Fortunately, there is Congressional action that will reverse that decision, if it passes.

SPACE WORKS TO PRESERVE GUNOWNERS’ RIGHTS AND ELIMINATE GUN TAX

December 20, 2007
Washington, DC -- Standing up for the rights of gun owners, Congressman Zack Space (OH-18) today announced the introduction of the Comprehensive Firearms Reform Act of 2007. Space’s legislation would strike a blow against the excessive infringement of Second Amendment rights at the hands of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATFE).

This bill makes corrections to the BATFE’s jurisdiction to help ensure that overzealous bureaucrats can’t go after gun purchasers. BATFE regulations now are so restrictive that if a person writes “y” instead of “yes” on a gun purchase form, the application is frequently rejected.

Space’s bill also permanently repeals a federal gun tax that can be imposed when a purchaser goes through a background check.

“As a sportsman and member of the NRA, I know what it means to be a responsible gun owner,” Space said. “I am a strong advocate of responsible, legal gun ownership, and this legislation will make sure that we do not hinder the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens while working to keep guns out of the hands of criminals.”

“We can and will make it more difficult for criminals to get their hands on guns while making sure we protect the civil rights of Americans.”

This legislation would:

* Create a system to provide more flexibility in punishing those who violate gun sales laws.
* Establish a solid legal requirement for determining the willful violation of the law.
* Creates specific sentencing guidelines for dangerous felons convicted of a gun offense.
* Set limitations on the availability of electronic gun owner information to protect the privacy of law-abiding citizens.
* Ban the federal background check tax.
* Allow security companies and ammunition manufacturers to purchase machineguns for product testing and international security personnel training.
* Ease the restriction on the importation of replacement parts for military-style semiautomatic rifles.

Space introduced HR 4900 with Republican Steve King of Iowa.

Congressman Space has represented Ohio’s 18th Congressional District since 2007, and he is working to restore integrity to the office, expand Ohio’s economy, and support renewable energy

In the mean time, if only DSA would make a run of inch pattern chrome lined barrels to go with their receivers. I have no insights into DSA or how it is operated, but seems an OBVIOUS MOVE DUE TO THE POTENTIAL DEMAND...

Maybe I am totally off and I am the only guy who'd buy two or three.

But they made a run of G1 barrels by taking M240 barrel blanks and turning them to G1 dimensions. An L1A1 barrel has to be easier to make with it not having the flash hider lug... And there is no shortage of gas blocks...

Talked to Ed today at Centerfire; he said the L1A1 kits haven't been delivered yet(they are taking pre orders), and can't say what the kit condition is yet; even though the website says excellent.
They do however have a pretty good track record.
