Flash Hider ID....Book II
OK, this might be difficult, or incredibly easy. I have 2 similar flash hiders, both are Browning long types, G1 twist on style. One (on top) is functional, the other is not, the slots have not been machined all the way through. The functional FH has a serial number, the other one does not.
![]() on the base, the functional FH on the right has a spring thing sticking out of it, the nonfunctional one doesn't even have a hole for the spring. ![]() At the base, the nonfunctional FH has the markings AB, then an arrow sign, then AUF. The functional FH just has a single arrow. ![]() I would really like to know the following info for each: 1. country of manufacture - is the non functional a US made ban compliant part? 2. year made approx. 3. color of quality inspector's underwear

The non functional unit looks to be sleeved. As such I would venture to say it was modified here in US but not US made.
The inspector was a woman and she's not wearing any panties! Merry Christmas Everyone. |

I don't believe all of these attachments had serial #'s or springs in the rear. All the ones I have have no springs in rear except one. Same with serials, some do some don't. One has instructions for on and off with arrows pointing both directions. I'm sure more than one manufacturer of this stuff so marked differently or not at all.
Looking harder it is definitely sleeved and yours have inst for on /off as well. Last edited by Sgt Rock; December 25, 2007 at 01:49. |

For the sake of clarity, "AB" means "ON" and AUF means "OFF" in German.

Tapco modified (sleeved) a regular G1 flash hider in an attempt to classify it as a muzzle brake type device and sold them during the ban years.

The wire is an addition that the Turks did. Apperantly they had a problem with the flash hider coming off. The orginal German flash hiders do have the the wire.
The new G1 flash hiders do not have seial numbers on them. I suspect they wre serilazed to the rifle. And if it has a serial number, to us, it means nothing. The sleeved hider is exactly that sleeved. They took a piece of tubing and silver soldered it in the flaash hider to make it a non function flash hider so we could have "the look" during the ban. Totally usless as a functioing anything. Mre of a collectors item now days. I very seldom put the muzzle attchemnts on my G1 as it throws the accuracy WAY off.
