Where to get a nice G3?
Gents,
Similar to my AK kit thread, where would one go to get their hot little hands on a G3 or G3 kit? I'd like to get one in all black with the wide fore-grip (or handguard). I got one of these Hensoldt scopes/mounts from Dan's Ammo and the damn thing is too nice to not get a rifle for. *sigh* My wallet hates guns... |

CDNN has some good prices on PTR's right now. You might have to swap out parts to get the configuration you want, but the basic model is $899 in their latest catalog. I'm still kicking myself in the ass for not buying them at $600 from Sarco.

+1 on the PTR. Wish I would have done that when I was into the G3 thing. I had to hunt up a kit, hunt up a receiver and then hunt up US parts and get the thing put together. Would have been far easier to do a PTR. From what I have read, they are the equal of a HK. OK guys, no flames for that opinion.

Quite a few PTR packages have been for sale on the various Sale boards over the last few months...probably due to ammo sticker shock.
You'll most likely find one with the wide handguard as well as that is the first thing people buy if it didn't come with one. |

PTR 91's
For those who don't know about the JLD Enterprize PTR91 series of rifles, Thier made on HK manufactured tooling that was bought from the Portugese Government who was a licensed HK manufacture for the FA G3 and HK21 Belt Feds about 6 years ago, Are made in the USA now and are really close to HK specs to the point that changing parts is the same as a factory HK manufactured weapon. A lot of FFL/Sot 3 dealers are now using the PTR 91s for host weapons for thier registered sears. For the quality and price compared to putting a kit together or Buying a real HK91 for two to three times the price it kinda a hard deal to beat right now, BUT shop around, You never know.

I've been fascinated to see the build from 'flat' threads around here recently. Kinda leaning towards that as a project if nothing else. Remember when the HK stuff was few and far between?
Who has G3 kits now? |
