Metric Pistol Grip Re-work
Guys,
How many of you rework your metric pistol grips? I just did another one tonight for an upcoming build. The standard one has a shelf on the left side of the grip immediately under the selector when in the fire position (Semi) and it drives me batty. I remove this so the selector is easier to manipulate and it doesn't dig into the first knuckle on my thumb. Another area I remove material from is again, in the area of the first knuckle on the thumb, but the area that meets the palm surface of the hand. Feels too 'square' under the knuckle. Do any of you guys have the same problem? I also use the Hogue grip condom thingy, which is nice (studded for pleasure), just soak it in hot water so you don't tear it and use dish soap. |

Heck, I don't do any of that, just use the thing stock as it comes out of the box. Well, maybe a little extra fine sanding along the parting line. If anything, I'd build the "shelf" UP to turn the grip into a "semi auto" version.

As I use an inch pattern selector, I have to make a cut for it to swing into the "FIRE" position. Other than that I pretty much leave it as is.

I also use the Inch selectors. Mostly anyway. A slight bit of material removal is required. Access is not a problem for me.
Maybe you want to try a different pistol grip or selector ? |

Just bought a bunch of inch selectors. For me at least, it doesn't seem to be the selector, but the grip itself. I do have one with a SAW grip, and it's fine with the standard (semi) selector. Other than that, I have one with the DSA extended selector (it's nice but sticks out a bit much, more than the inch) and now one with the inch selector.
Just finished modding the inch selector for metric and checkered the upper surfaces of it, feels ok. Doing checkering sux though, especially free-hand! |
