Building Israeli FAL?

I want to get a FAL built, I have a gunsmith who will do it but I need the parts. What would I be looking for price wise and where can I obtain parts to put together a copy of a Israeli FAL? I would like to use original FAL parts if possible. I've seen the heavy barrel sold on DSARMS, how is this in quality compared to the real Israeli heavy barrel rifles sold on gunbroker? Thanks.

There are a lot of Izzy parts out there, but you have to look. Most of the kits have dried up, however, every once in a wile some will surface. You will have to determine if you want an Izzy heavy barrel or a light barrel. Then do the research to see what parts go to which rifle.

www.Gunthings.com and www.Sarcoinc.com are a couple of places to get started. Just be careful. There seems to be a lot of the "Izzy air gauged heavy SNIPER barrels" out there.

Now, if you are not particular in having a true Izzy and want a look-alike, then you can get a regular FAL kit and add the Izzy forearms to it and there you go. Do a search here for Isreali or Izzy for your ideas.

Good luck on your build

They come up from time to time in the FALfiles' Marketplace - I saw an Israeli kit there a while back for $595

I wouldn't mind just having a FAL with Israeli furniture. What does Izzy mean?

Items visually unique to most Israeli FALs:
Handguards, buttstock, cocking handle, bolt carrier, gas block, front sight post, selectors, hinge pins, mag catch. Gas blocks, plugs, pistons and cylinders have dimensional differences which are not easily visually discerned.
Very early Izzies used plain muzzle open ear sight barrels, standard cocking handles and carriers, "T48" type hgs, standard stocks. All used tall rear sights and the unique selector hinge pin, and mag catch.

Building a true Izzy clone has gotten pretty expensive of late. Dressing up a reg'lar ol' FAL with Iz furniture is cheap and easy.

The hand guards for a light barrel will fit, either type of Israeli butt stock should fit w/o modification.

Provided your Century has a metric lower, any metric stock including the Izzies will swap with no mods.
