You wrote "Lights Out"? Damn, I love "Lights Out", I'm thrilled to hear you have a new one.
If anybody here hasn't read LO, do so ASAP. I don't suppose you ever had that published, dead tree variety? |

Halffast -
I just read what you have posted so far of "lost and Found" on AR15.com. I enjoyed it. It's a quick read, which is always good when it comes to a story. I know it's just a draft at this point, and there's no reason for me to point out any misspelling or grammatical errors, not that there were that many of them, because I'm sure you'll get all that sorted out. My only criticism or suggestion would be to flesh out DJ a little more. Maybe a little more of his backstory. I read a good deal of fiction and have even tried my hand at writing. Even taken a few writing classes, but I'm far from an expert. One thing I do notice among the more successful authors is that they really make their main characters seem real though details of the character's lives. Anyway, good job so far. I'm looking forward to reading more down the road. I also searched the Net and found "Lights Out" and downloaded it to read later. Best of luck with your story.

Halffast, minor technical gripe.
You have D.J. using what I believe to be an Eotech sight at one point in the story line "tuning it down to it's night vision setting" then later on as he prepares to make a longer range engagement you describe a tritium powered sight with a chevron (trijicon). I know D.J. is the gadget loving type and it wouldn't be out of his character to have multiple sights for his carbine but I think a character as well studied in the modern ways of combat as this one seems would not be willing to trust his life on "return to zero" quick mounts without firing a few rounds to be sure of his zero. Maybe an M68 (Aimpoint) with a 3X magnifier that can be mounted and dismounted without changing the zero of the sight? Good read so far either way, just trowing it out there.

My eyes hurt, I just read Lights Out over the last few hours without doing much else. Great read...
Wish it was available as a book on tape so my wife could enjoy it on her commute. |

I just finished reading 'Lights Out'. WOW!!! That is a great read. I couldn't stop reading it!
That would make a great movie but I don't think Hollywierd would go for it... too bad

I just finished Lights Out.
What an outstanding work of fiction. It would make a GREAT made for Cable miniseries, with real potential for a series to follow. The series could have beat the hell out of Jericho the failure of which will keep any thing like this from being produced, investors will point to Jericho and say it won't work, what a shame. If an independent would pick it up and do a conservative production with good cast I think it would translate well to a 8 - 9 hour production. SciFi would buy it if no one else. If it worked a prequel would do very well. I can see it in my minds eye. For some reason it reminds me of my favorite Stephen King novel and production THE STAND. Great work brother Halfast! I can;t wait to get started on L & F.
