Hey TexMac,

Your topic seems a little lonely. So I am here to give you some company.

BTW, what kind of every day shooters?

How about this?

This is my BBQ gun. H&K P7M13, I checkered the backstrap, serrated the back of the slide, and sent it off to Robar for their NP3 finish.

Here is a 1911 I built for my son's graduation from the USNA:

Sorry for the rotten pic, it is a Caspian titanium frame, Caspian Damascus slide, Heinie Trijicon sights, frontstrap checkered 25 lpi.

Oh, you want to see FAL's?

This is "Dolly" and was built by Rich at CGW. Lots of goodies on this one. I now have a Leupold 2.5x IER scope mounted on the handguards as a Scout Rifle.

I currently have three FAL's I'm building, a L1A1, an Imbel kit and a Para, but no photos yet.

Best Regards,
Slo cat

Nice stuff, S.C.! Quite the rig on the FAL, as well. Glad to see the "30" in the well, too!

Thanks for the company!

And..., a pre-barrel mockup. This one was interesting , to say the least.

Sorry about the sucky quality, this was before better digitals were reasonable priced.

Anything you got, guys. This one is open to anything you've built, or working on.

Same unit, while it was in the wood, with a Thompson-style foregrip.

Here's my whole FAL Family, plus a couple of future project lower receivers on the workbench:

All are headspaced and can be fired. The Imbel on the right will get parkerizing, the Inch is parked, but need more furniture refinishing, and the Para only needs the muzzle threaded and the Moses muzzle brake screwed on. I'm waiting for delivery of a 9/16" x 24 LH die.

Best Regards,
Slo cat

S.C.: I see you have a few Enfield selectors, as well. Getting hard to find!

Some folks pull out there family pictures. So do we..., just a different "family" than most.

NICE!

I really like the Inch style selectors, US made, that I got from Gunthings. I will be using these on all of my builds. I also like to use sand cut bolt carriers. I am also planning to DuraCoat over park on these FAL's.

Tell us more about your 1919. Semiauto? Your build? How hard is it to do one of these?

Best Regards,
Slo cat

S.C:

The 1919 is no more difficult than an AK.

Yes, unfortunately, semi-auto. And, yes, one of mine. Seems a terrible waste, don't it? This was decided over a 1918, largely due to availability and receiver cost, but that I also couldn't bring myself to condemn another BAR to be forever castrated!

About $550 for the parts set, about $150 for the RH side plate, and about $200 for the machine work, and you're ready to close up the receiver. Headspace is a cinch, and barrel changes are pretty quick. You can do .308 and '06 with a simple change of the barrel and the cartridge stop. For about $300 more, you can get an 8mm barrel and shoot pretty cheap. This is really just a weekend job.

Recommended to anyone that doesn't mind the weight and has a hammer and bucking bar.

Nice family portrait, as well! Do love see those M-Ns out there. One of the best bolt-action deals I've run across. The old M44 can still shoot circles around my Winchesters!

Nice!

Thank you Tex,
I have a ruskie 91/30(not pictured) that shoots 8 inches high in a 5 inch group at 100 yds !
That Finnish M39 on the other hand is friggin awsome ......shoots 2 inch @ 100yds and is very comfortable to shoot.I hate to admit this but I enjoy shooting the M39 more than my 98K!The 98K is a lot better quality and smoother action(better caliber too) but the M39 fits me much better.
I have bought a 1914 dated 1903 Rock Island and a Yugoslavian M70AB2 AK since the pics were taken.
