Correct Stock and Take-Down lever on a StG-58??
I was wondering if the StG-58 was ever issued with a black plastic “hump-back” buttstock?? Also, what type of take-down lever did they have… Was it the horizontal or the vertical style or did the Austrians use both versions at different times??
I just picked up a DSA SA-58/StG-58 with a Type II receiver and I would like to swap out the straight-line stock with the hump-back one, that’s if it would be correct since I want to keep it as G.I. as possible. Thanks for looking!! |

The straight stock and vertical take-down lever are original to a '58 - I'm not sure if they ever used anything else, but I know those two are good to go.
I like originality, or our duplications as we are allowed by the Fed, but if a humpback stock or low lever fit me better, I'd use it.....more of a shooter than collector. Enjoy! |

I just put a Penguin humpback stock on my STG58, and it fits me a heckuva lot better.

A type C wood humpback stock would be correct insofar as the early FN built STGs used them. Ain't many 922r compliant ones around, though. IWD made some at one point, but not many.

Correct Stock and Take-Down lever on a StG-58??
From what I understand, the new DSA wood stocks are made in the US, They also are set up for the rubber buttpad, not the metal buttplate. Dont know if that helps
