Tac light question
Hey guys !
I'm planning on buying me a tac light that goes onto the rail of a .45 pistol ( 1911 ) . What is good out there and which ones you'd better stay away from ? What are your experiences with any of those ? TYIA, ![]() Pete |

I have used both the Stramlight M3 and M6 both have worked very well without any problems or complaints from me. Nice light units. I have seen the New version that used the LED instead of the normal globe. Sounds like a better setup but I have not used it as of yet.

Surefire is least likely to break. Get an LED one for battery life. Don't get one too bright as they can blind the user when shone on a white wall.

SureFire all the way. I've had an X-200B on the rail of my Springfield M1911 for almost 2 years now...zero problems, awesome performance. I don't have one of the new X-300's yet- @ another 2 months- but playing with one at the local gun-gettin' emporium convinced me that its every bit as tough and a bit brighter.

I second the TLR1 and TLR2. I have had great luck with mine mounted on my Glock 20 and 21. But, keep in mind that it is sometimes difficult to find a holster from some arrangements.

I use a Surefire on my sidearm, and carry another handheld. If you need to illuminate something you don't want to shoot, the handheld is the way to go...few things make someone as nervous as having a "friendly" gun pointing at them because they need some light...

The consensus amongst many door kickers seems to be that Streamlight makes a better product that Surefire for less. I like mine.

Most lights that offer near 200 lumens will have digital adjustment to adapt to the light you need. Don't discount more light, it will come in handy when you do need it. |

As I've mentioned in the other thread, I bought me a Streamlight TLR-1 for less than $100 ( brand new, that is ) . Mine is a LED version.
It was recommended by several buddies of mine serving in the armed forces and with LE. Haven't regretted it so far. ![]() Pete |
