Big thanks goes out to davesrb
I know I already told you thanks Dave but I wanted to again. When I got home tonight I managed to fire 10 rds through the rifle and I let my son and his freind shoot a few through it as well(they really liked it). It definately needs some fine tuning but I did manage to keep the first 5 rds on a plate at 35 yds. Not bad for shooting with only the headlights of the truck.
If the groups don't get better in the daytime I may have to redo the crown and the end of the barrel. I normally shoot way better than that. Guess I didn't bend the barrel ![]() For those that don't know Dave and I kinda threw together an Imbel kit today on a DSA receiver. It's ugly as hell but it works ![]() You think I should take a picture for the ugliest rifle award? Thanks Dave, Will catch ya later man, Wes |

Wes,
Man that Imbel ain't ugly! Have you seen the baby sh*t paint on a Rhodie? Glad it's working fine. Get it tuned up and we can re finish it next time your down here, and assemble your second one also. Remember, Imbel flash hiders are "left hand thread"! Oh yeah, night shooting by the headlights of your truck..ain't Alabama fun!!! Talk to you soon. Dave

Shot 15 rds through it before I have to get rdy for work. 65 yds and propping against a tree. Mainly trying to pull the sights in closer. Had to move the rear aperature to the right and hade to lower the front post. I fired five three shot groups. best three round string was probably around 2 inches. I am not gonna fault the rifle for this at all cause I am kinda doing redneck shooting here
I dont trust the ammo either. It seems somewhat inconsistent. For the 30 rds so fr it has stovepiped three times. I tightened the gas nut up one extra click to see if that is the problem. I have more experimenting to do. With the current setting it puts a light ding on the cass mouth and sends empties about 10 feet out front and right, roughly 45 degrees. Does this sound about right? I think the ammo is Indian circa 1975. I know it is probably unreliable at best. All in all I think we have a winner with this rifle though. This is the first FAL I have ever fired and WE built it dude. I really love the way it handles too. At first it seems kinda long and bulky but when you shoulder it and squeeze the trigger it all comes home with its smoothness. It doesn't kick at all and to me the muzzle hop is very mild. It doesn't jump nearly as bad as my M4gery. Ok it's time for me to get ready for work so I'll talk to you later, Wes |

Glad to hear you are enjoying you new baby. I can't tell you anything about the reliability of the Indian ammo. Never used it myself. Maybe someone else here can chime in on that one. The ejected cases at 10 feet is a little farther than mine normally go. You should be able to eject without major damage to the cases.
I think you are going to find this to be a pretty accurate rifle once you sight it in. Let me know how you do off a bench. Maybe with some better ammo. Let me kow when you want to get down here and go to work on #2. Davesrb

Ok dude. I think I left my flashlight on your bench. Shot it some more before I went to work today. I have noticed it seems to jam about once every ten rds or so. Possibly my magazines. It seems to start to feed the rd but the bolt appears to ride up on top of the rd hence jamming it into the mag well and the chamber. Will have to see why that is.
Catch ya later, Wes |
