Very Nice! I am always amazed with some of the Gems that are uncovered from what appears to be lost cause wood.
Regards,
Jim

Steven, I had around one and a half to two hours of sanding starting with 60 grit and finishing with 440 grit. I hope the Ironwood I have on order looks as good as this wood.

Any tips for repeating your work? I'm starting with about what you did. Did you put the stock in dishwasher or anything special to degrease it first? Mine appears to already have most the grease cleaned off by DSA but I want it right the first time I refinish. Did you do anything to remove dings? Like steam, etc? Use any filler?

Thanks for sharing.

Lance nothing fancy, just lots of sanding. I started with 60 grit and worked it down to 360 grit. No dishwasher, no steam, and no fill. I put 3 coats of Matco medium walnut stain, followed by 3 coats {so far} of hand rubbed linseed oil. I hope this helps. Good luck with your wood!

Thanks for the info. I'm not looking for the perfectly refinished stock. I like the used look that gives it character. I prefer the results you have achieved and commend your taste and talent. I hope mine turns out as good.

Looking at alla these beautiful stocks that you guys are getting with your G1 kits is bringing me down. I ordered 3 kits,...except for one nice pistol grip, all of the furniture sucked.

Templator, the first G-1 kit i got also had a thrashed B/S. The pictures above are of the second G-1 kit i got. I'm 1 for 2 which is better than 0 for 3. I would bet if you bought just one more G-1 one kit you would be rid of that 0-for. He he he A man can never have enough FAL's
