pics of my STG done by RBL-

RBL does an incredible job making even Frankenfal's look good. This is my DSA STG w/R1 wood stock. He and his dad do aireal
shoots, production stuff for large firms, hospital/surgery pics, etc and he takes the time to do this for me. Great guy- he has said that he'd do photo shoots of firearms before and I've seen his stuff for his SIG PRO.

Is that some type of insulation you made to fit inside the metal handguards in the first pic?

Yup. I have a roll of Aluminum roof flashing that I cut-to-fit a set of liners. They are slightly oversized so they spring-fit into the upper and lower lips of the STGs metal handguards. Hardest part was cutting the cooling vents in them w/o tearing up the metal too bad. But those and bed liner works great. 3 mags rapid fire and NO excess heat buildup. I'll try to post pics w/ a ruler if you're interested. the roll of Al++ was cheap and I could probably turn out a hundred or so if I had a speedier way except a couple pairs of hand trimmers.

I'm interested. I'd really like some details on how to better insulate the STG-58 handguards. That, or I need to find some "pre-ban" asbestos gloves. I'm reasonably handy, own tin-snips.
