Imbel by GG
The BBT brought me a present today; the Imbel receiver/kit combo that I had sent to George Gouger came back, in the form of a beautiful rifle. I wanted a basic configuration, close to the original military configuration, and George delivered, and then some. These pictures do not do this rifle justice.
In fact, to give George a challenge, a couple of friends and I mauled the receiver pretty good. George was even impressed! You can click on the picture to view a larger image; be warned, though, that the full size images are about 225KB, so might take a minute or so to DL. (Note: I "spray painted" over the serial no. in the right side view pic in Photoshop.) [ June 02, 2001: Message edited by: msu89dawgs ] |

Dear MSU89dawgs,
Thank you for the nice pics, Glad you liked the rifle. You and a number of folks will be getting the last of the Civillian work for a while. I got about 92 or so here to finish up:-) Thats just FAL's to build! My wife will be doing her work, and the refinishing will continue to be accepted. Just no "new" customers. Thanks again and very glad you liked the rifle. Sincerely, George L. Gouger Life Member NRA Since 1969 www.doubleggunsmithing.com

It is a Hesse brake. I had been under the impression that it would have only two rows of ports at 10:30 and 1:30, but it has four rows of three ports, as the Belgian combo device does. After reading posts about the "cheek slap" phenomenon that some have experienced with the Hesse braked rifles, I will have to see how this rifle performs in that regard.
