M1A -ARMS - Kollmorgen

I bought a M1A years ago which would always string vertically. I glass bedded it but wanted to scope it to see what improvents I might have made - my eyes have got much worse lately. I found an ARMS mount for it a local gun show for $5.00!! that was missing the mounting screws. Sent a check for $20 off to ARMs for the screws and it's on the rifle now. I've had this 6X Kollmorgan Bear Cub scope that has a sort of parkerized look to it - perfect for the M1A. Anxious to try it out, I put some Weaver rings on it and went to clamp the sope on and found it didn't sit right - kind of wobbled from one ring base to the other. Measured the scope and found that the main body is 1.028"OD so it does not sit in the bases properly. Anybody know about these scopes? I think Redfield bought them out - it even looks like a Redfield. Hard to imagine that someone would make a scope of such and odd size. And where do you get rings for that?!

You'll most likely need a set of Mil Std Picatinny rings. They can go
from reasonable to ridiculous quickly. Trying to find them in 1" tube
can be a challenge since most of the old Weavers Redfields are not
30mm.

Moa Doctor on Gunbroker may be able to help. He lists a lot of optics including that scope.

Just a guess that the tube is 26mm - nominal designation based on the scope tube diameter. That is different than 1" (1" ~ 25.4mm ??).

There are rings out there for 26mm just a little more digging.

Graf seems to have a good supply of 26mm

CDNN has high profile only in stock.
Unless you're a giraffe they're about useless.

Kalinka doesn't seem to carry them anymore or I can't find them.

Gazz,
Good find on that mount for 5 bucks.

I was surprised to find that ARMS mount for $5 as well. The guy sells nothing but Garand, M1 Carbine, 1903 and 03A3 parts with some Mauser stuff. He knows the going rate for stuff. I guess since it was incomplete he though it not worth much.

Thanks for the tips - I believe the conversion does work out to 26MM so I'll be looking for some of them. Hopefully, I can get them for $5 as well - I am so frugal!
