Two things - first for those who aren't owning suppressors, did you know that the muzzle blast was masking the sounds that your bullet makes like hitting the target the the riochet sounds. This sound happens a lot more than you think if you haven't listend suppressed gunfire.
second this is a richocet against a hard target coming back towards you - alway have metal targets at an angle, not 90 degree from where you are shooting to avoid this kind of problem - this guy was very lucky.

Every time I hear one, I think I just shite me-self. No way to know where it's gonna go, and with what energy.

The sound itself cool, but what the sound means is anything but cool. By the time you hear the sound it's already hit something or it's gone. Still makes the pucker factor rise real quick.

Way cool when I think of the bullets landing in Mexico a few 100 yds away. Even cooler are M60's firing 100% tracers on the ocean at night... 50cals barking flames and their tracers ricocheting 100% ricochets bouncing off the water and an HH-60 shooting an M240 with tracers with the 5"/54 firing Willie Petes on parachutes 9000 yds in the distance.

The sound I hate is the ballistic crack of the sound Barrier breaking as the bullet passes by.

This relates to the video I distributed a few days ago.
http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=285410 Utah. “Boom Headshot - .50 style ________________________________________ This is amazing. Willie, the guy shooting the AR-50 is a friend of mine. The target, a 1" steel plate was 100 yards away. You can hear the ping of the hit, then the bullet comes back and hits him in the head.” Willie had the plate set back at a 45* angle, and 45* to the side as well. That it came straight back like this is very odd. Someone upstairs was messing with him. The muffs are the electronic Caldwells.”

Never had to really worry about it though. Having a metal target squared to you is safer than at an angle!

Not necessarily - depends on the angle it struck. High-angle impact, yup - but at a shallow angle, bad idea because the ricochet will "dig in" and buzz down the length of the wall.
![]() Very cool for taking out targets that pop out of a window or doorway. |
