"Moses" brakes
I just got my Moses brakes in yesterday. I ordered four of them, two for the FAL, and two custom brakes for the AR15.
The fit and finish on these brakes are excellent. One thing I like that instead of just drilling the three holes (four sets) in the brake straight through, Moses opens them up a bit on the outside into an oval shape. Definately a "cool" feature that helps this brake look close to the original. The AR brakes I had made were a result of my dissappointment in finding a "cool" post ban brake. Most of the post-ban brakes either had a small diameter hole at the end, or looked like some poorly made A2 clone. I saw the new "A2" brake that Wilson came out with, and I don't care for the long oval slot cut into the sides of it. The AR brakes are a smaller version of the FAL brake, only with the threading at the end of the brake (no slip-over on the barrel). I had Moses make them long enough, so that when I have them permanently attached to a 14.5 inch M4 barrel, it creates and overall length of 16 inches. I checked the brakes out in a side-by-side comparison with my friend's Bushmaster 14.5" bbl M4, with permanently attached Mini-Y-Comp. I didn't measure it, but the Moses brake is exactly the same diameter as the Mini-Y-Comp, and slightly longer in length. My advice: Get at least one Moses brake for your FAL, they are definately COOL! For the photos of the brakes, the FAL brake is the one on the left, and the AR brake is on the right (in all photos). Make sure you click on the photo until it fills the whole page. The closeup detail is great if you view them at the largest size. http://albums.photopoint.com/j/Album...363&a=11878924 [This message has been edited by R4 fan (edited March 03, 2001).] |
