Hardwood vs. Laminated 91/30
Here, I finished this hardwood 91/30 with the same treatment as the laminated from a couple of months ago. Not too much figure in teh wood and not wild like the laminated, but they not bad to look at and will grow on you. Used a little BLO on the hardwood because I wanted it to darken some this time.

Kind of hate to take the Russian varnish off, because it is so tough and appears to be water-proof. The grease they used also resists solvents. Don't under-estimate the Russian Bear. They know how to make weapons.

The Finns used pine tar. Will drag mines out here in a minute and take picture.

Here is Finn with 2-piece stock and pine tar finish. I am going to leave it just like it is.
