How do I dissassemble my FAL mags?
For cleaning? They look like they are not designed to take apart...I have 2 aluminum, and two steel.

Yes, they will come apart. If you have metric mags, on the floorplate, on the outside back edge, you'll see two dimples. In the center you'll see a small hole. The dimples are there to hold the floorplate in place in the mag body. On the back edge of the mag body, you'll see an indentation. When I take my floorplates off, I push a small punch thru the hole, push the floorplate edge gently away from the mag body and pull straight out. The floorplate should slide out from under the folded edges of the body. BE CAREFUL......the spring may fly out of the body. We don't need anything punctured, and I'm not sure that getting punctured by a magazine spring qualifies for WECSOG points.
Once you get the floorplate off, you should be able to work the spring and follower out of the body.

The Steyr combo tool has a hook in one end that is intended to aid in the disassembly of the mags. It works well for its intended purpose, without bending the floorplates.

Actually, thats a very efficient way to take them apart. It's finding someone to alter your reciever to accept them afterwards thats the problem.
