Williams Arms' Warranty Service

I sent back my inch Combat Elite to Williams after discussing some problems I was having with George Gouger over the telephone. At his request I sent the entire barrelled upper for him to troubleshoot on October 10. I came home today to find that Fed-Ex had been to my door with a long package from Williams Arms, but my fiance didn't want to sign for anymore !#%!#@ gun stuff so they're coming back tomorrow (man - I knew I should have stayed home today!).

With all the happenings at Williams right now and with George being in over his head (not to mention his wife under the knife) I honestly expected to not see my upper for at least 6 weeks, if not a couple of months - those guys got it back to me including shipping time (TN-OR-TN) in just over three weeks - I'm impressed and I haven't even seen the package yet.

I'll post after I give it a good workout. Way to go Williams!

Well, this is encouraging. They currently have my metric front end. I'm too scared to ask for an estimate on turn-around time.

I agree with idsubgun. If you fiance is doing this crap now, she will cut your balls off when your married. Even thought it was "gun stuff", she ws pretty juvenile for doing this and would not like it if you had done the same for one of her packages. Luckily, my girlfriend of the last three years has been a dream for my gun hobby. She has even carted in 70lbs ammo case inside for me when UPS has done a drop and run. Anyway, you better get her involved in your hobbies, or you are doomed unless you have already decide to have your balls removed when you get married.

Your fiancee sounds like my ex,.. I had to let her go her own way shortly after I entered my BOOM (becoming one's own man) years. Replaced her with a pretty Russian/Polish woman that I found in Canada. I Had some fairly serious health problems a year ago,... stumbled home from the hospital stitched up like Herman Munster,... a few days later when I could walk again,.. she led me out to the garage and there was a new, bright yellow Ducati 900SS sitting there. To sum up,... any woman who turned away one of my parcels would be riding the grub line that very day. *climbing down offa my soap box*

"pretty Russian/Polish woman that I found in Canada" - LOL! That's quite a combination!

As for the fiance issue - she's worried about getting her name on "watchlists" by signing for my packages. I admit I get a fair amount of gun stuff in the mail (5k of .308 in the last month and several FAL-related parts) so I'm no doubt on somebody's list already, but I can't quite make her understand that her signature just means that the package had no shipping damage and was delivered that day at that time. No problem, not worth the fight - I just left a bunch of pre-signed "yellow sticky notes" for the UPS man - only problem was this was FED-EX. Other than that she's great - I shoot whenever the range is open and spend half my weekends travelling to IDPA, Highpower, or 3-Gun Matches and she doesn't mind at all - maybe she's just happy to be rid of me

Follow-up: I got the package today and found out not only did George fix the problem but he also put a proper crown on my cut barrel (I was experimenting with Gary's "sandpaper crown" method) and enlarged my "gas-hole" to function at 4 (I had not wanted to start modifying the gas port until I had straightened out the receiver problems, but he went ahead and did it anyway).

I'll say it again - above and beyond the call of duty - thanks George!

I'll make sure to report after I give it a good what-for at the range this weekend.

OK you guys are sendign the Combat elete receiver back for warenty service. Mind telling the rest of us what the problems are?
I only had one little problem with mine and a little file work streightenend that out. The BHO would hang up due to the ejector block hanging over in the slightly. A little file work on the BHO pn and now she worky, worky pretty good.

Let us know what is going on.

The problem causing me to send it back was my inch mags not fitting in the magwell. I had to force them in and then could only remove them be removing the mag catch, and then only forcefully so. George shaved a little off the ejector block to give it a little more play, but noticed that the mag I sent him for comparison was a little bit oversized when compared to several he had around. After checking my mags, 4 out of 10 I got from TAPCO were bigger than the rest and a few minutes with a file seems to make them all fit great.

Hope that helps,
Matt

They are either with us, or they are against us.

One last follow up: it functioned perfectly at the range yesterday on a gas setting of "4" with Port ammo - boy that is is one quick feeling gun!

BTW - I found out why the fiance is paranoid about signing for stuff. We may be about to enter in a custody battle for her 3 year-old daughter (if the scumbag decides it would behoove him to want her after making no attempt to contact in 2 1/2 years) and she's worried about his lawyer digging up anything that might hurt our case - you know - living with a martial arts instructor that builds evil main battle rifles and buys rediculous amounts of ammo......"It just means she'll be safer than anyone else out there." says I......
