Century L1A1 Range Report!

Greetings everyone. Today was the first day that I was able to take my new Century L1A1 out. First let me give you some info on this speccific rifle. It's a Century clobbered L1A1 built on Century's new receiver. It's composed of all British and Australian parts, with exception of the HTS group and furniture. Heck, even the rear sight is the proper notched Australian aperture. Also, the gas piston is a one piece deal.

Fit and finish on this rifle was "ok" by Century standards. The receiver is parked, but the coating is very thin. The park can be easily scratched, leaving bare steel showing. The front HG's suck, and needed some fitting, and the buttstock was not put all the way on, leaving a noticeable gap between the lower and buttstock.

Anyway, I went to the range and brought some South African with me. I initially set the gas opening to 5. The first magazine would not cycle reliably. There were several FTE, and FTF's. I then set the gas pressure to 4 and loaded another mag. This time, this baby rocked! It didn't miss a beat! I went through 200 rounds of S. African with no major problems whatsoever!

The sights also corresponded very well to POA, and am sure that the sights if off, aren't off to far. I didn't have a chance to set up paper targets, but I did get to put a couple of washing machines out of their misery.

Anyway, I'm very pleased with this gun. Costing me only $398 from Wholesale, and a few bucks for ammo this thing rocks! There's nothing sweeter than getting a nice reliable rifle for a very good price.

Anyway, I already have an Entreprise receiver on its way, along with an Imbel grade 3 kit, and a G1 kit coming. I've been bitten by the bug, and now it's time to build.

If you build it, they will come..... hehehehe
