Load Bearing Equipment Questions:
Allrighty...
I've assembled what I believe is a pretty good rig for the money- *Russian M25A vest over ABA vest, satisfies all of my equipment needs and works PERFECTLY with my north face backpack. *Web belt (integrated into the vest) that holds a custom fitted holster for my 6 inch dan wesson .357 . That seems to have solved ALL of my problems with regards to load bearing equipment, save two: *Where do I keep speedloaders for the Dan Wesson? Everything's made for automatics, and I just..well..REALLLY like my dan wesson. Dangit. Would like to keep the speedloaders on a belt, but all of the speedloader cases I see commonly for sale have too narrow of a belt loop for my web belt (it's a USMC black pistol belt). Was thinking of using a pistol hanger through the loop, but am wondering about the durability of such a setup. I've seen MANY, MANY photos of US troops in Vietnam using revolvers, and have seen some photos of what look like modern tactical units using them (back in the 70's 80's of course, maybe before that?). Surely SOMEONE has come up with a way to carry reloads on modern load bearing equipment? I would love to see some sort of ALICE compatible system-would make it very easy for me. *Where do I keep the bayonet for my AK when it's not on the gun? Would like to somehow integrate the sheath into the belt-have seen some people stick them on the shoulder part of the vest, but it seems to me like this would be impractical in actual usage. Maybe just leave it off? If worse comes to worse ont he speedloader issue, I've played around with using two desert eagle .357 magnum magazines as a sort of cruddy speedloader, shucking the rounds one by one right into the open cylinder....that would be an easy way to get it done, but I REEALLLLY like my HKS speedloaders. Any thoughts? And no, this won't see any serious duty that I can forsee. I just wanted a low cost way to carry the gear that I have in the event that..I dunno..another hurricane hits my area (am in prime hurricane area that was affected by rita/katrina) and...umm..because I can, hehe. Thanks in advance!

If you look into some police gear they have holsters for speed loaders that fit on the wide sam brown belts. And if I remember right thay even made nylon ones.
Sportsmens guide had some used ones cheap awhile ago. hope this helps. |

put a few speed loaders in a m 16 mag pouch put a smal 8x8 or so wadded up cotton rag in the bottom for wiping down weapons and such because it isnt always prectical to get to your cleaning kit
ditch the bayonet get a good knife k bar or cold steel recon tanto have both worked well for me |

I make gear
If you want something custom made for your speed loaders and or bayonet, let me know. I make gear and can do something so it will integrate into your existing system. PM if interested.

First off...congrats on chosing a revolver! You *may* be one of thonly, tho
' Second..why the HKS? IMNSHO, the Safariland's are the ultimate..in any of their configs..shot tactcal, standard and long "Jet" vs.I have a few of the early Bianchi "Ranger" double holders for my '66, alog with the rest of a complete set of duty gear.Got it whae SL was changing to the new molded vs for cheap from SG or CTD Idon't rcall 'zackly. The Bianchi ranger =has a loop of mat'l over the back and velcro to R&R it from the gear. IIRC it has enough to get over a 2"+ belt ,but not enough to stretch to a ful size GI web belt. I'd make a snap/velcro on adapter with a pc of..like Malice web/plastic attached to fasten 'em to. Best of BOTH worlds! Good luck, Paul

I've had an issue with a safariland letting all the rounds go loose in a pocket, causing some considerable alarm when they fell out of a coat pocket at a mom and pop convenience store. Went okay, once they realized I wasn't gonna rob the place...gotta love East Texas.
I do like the more positive manner in which the safariland releases the rounds, and haven't tried anything but the comp models. Am interested to see if they have done anything to resolve the lack of stability compared to the HKS loader, as I would use them again for concealed carry. As of right now, though, my safarilands are kept for range and competition use. I love the AK bayonet, and don't intend to get rid of it..I have a few laying around, they seem to work great for workhorse knives annnd they go on the end of my firearm. That's just rad. I haven't used anything else as a camping or fishing knife for awhile now... If I HAVE to, I'll get another one, but I might look into some of this custom made gear I see available by PM here soon ![]() The revolver is certainly my number one choice-I've got a 9mm automatic that would work as well, but the idea of having a sidearm on my emergency gear that does NOT need magazines to function and can easily be used with crappy or water damaged ammunition (if it doesn't go bang, just cycle single actiona nd try again!). I also feel confident that the DPX and/or Golden Saber rounds in .357 will have no problem whatsoever in stopping anything that starts. My buddies ask me all the time if I feel antiquated or undergunned with a .357 6 inch revolver-I say...hell no. I guess someday I might shell out the cash for the latest super technopolymer hicap .45shortenedloudenboomen round shooting autopistol..but.. My Dan Wesson keeps on ticking...says the date of manufacture is early 60's or something like that, from the Monson Plant. If it's worked this long, it'll keep doin' its job ![]() I guess it's weird to hear that from someone as young as me, but...I always did stick out, lol.

Didn't Air Force pilots have an issue shoulder holster for .38's with cartridge loops in them? Might be an alternative for ya.

if your not in a hurry 10 rounds of 357 fit on a sks stripper clip
i like the bianchi speed strips myself not as fast as a speed loader but they aren't as bulky either |

Seems like a gernade pouch might fit 3 speedloaders well.
Uncle Mikes has a cordura pouch which fits 2 speed loaders (or 2 77/22 mags) perfectly |
