Are you talking about the length of the throat?? At least that is what I call it. What I am talking about is the distance between the projectile and the lands. If we are talking the same thing, a OAL gauge like made by Stoney Point could give you that w/o the mess and hassle of a chamber cast.

If I am waaaaaaay off base.............please just disregard!!

you're not off base but I am looking for neck length. I have a bunch of assorted brass and don't want to trim if I don't have to---if necks are longer than chamber neck dimension serious pressure problems will result.

Boman,

Just revivied an older thread I started, "Am I Boring You?". I had a chamber cast done on two barrels and the measurements are posted.

Don't know if these will help and both were used SA barrels.

Good luck.

Frenchkat, You're thread is of some help as those diameters confirm I only need to neck size this brass as it is all undersize those body diameters.

About half of the brass I have is well under sammi spec in length but some is measuring 2.025+ which is 10 thou too long---necks in the FAL barrels are probably long enough to accomodate but don't want to risk it.

I have seen bolt guns that wouldn't open due to high pressure caused when firing untrimmed brass in reloads.
