$900-1400 depending upon how bad you want one. They only imported a few hundred and they are very nice.

Well ... I guess $800.00 out the door was a good enough deal ... It has a bipod cut barrel and handguards but no bipod and the butthole will have to go ... a few more dollars invested and it should be Ok ...
Now to find some AR mags and jump on some of Aim's Radway Green .223 before it's gone and I'll be set ... Thanks for the info ...

I'd say you did pretty good. I'd also say that that a few guys will hate you when they read this thread.
SAR 4800s in 223 are kind of a sought after commodity here on the files. $800 is the best price I have heard of, especially NIB. They cost more than that new in the mid 90s. Great catch! |

That's a great deal. Gunplumber did my para conversion and put a Belgian short on the end, which is actually harder than it sounds. Have fun with it.

You've done very well. Congratulations! I paid $1250 for mine, and I was pleased.
You can easily keep the US parts count if you stick to using USGI magazines. With the permenantly attached muzzle thingy, you only need six US parts. The US magazine gives you three: mag body, follower, floor plate. Replace the furniture with new US handguards, buttstock, pistcol grip and you have six US parts. If you replace the muzzle thingy, get a US made one to keep it easy, and get your seventh US part to go with the now threaded barrel. (I hope I got all of that crazy US parts stuff correct. If not, someone please correct me. It never seems to make any sense . . . )Here are some photos of mine: Original furniture: ![]() Added Penguin furniture ![]() ![]()

Be sure and check the .223 FAL serial number thread: here
I you like, you can also PM me your number, and I will update the list. It looks to me like there are only about 600 of these rifles that were imported. Plase post some photos also.

WoW ... Many thanks guys !! ... I had no idea it was that rare !!
I'm still a nOOb I guess ... The info on the "un-banning" process is greatly appreciated also !! After seeing some threads about .223 FAL's around here, I found it quite interesting and finally bought it .. (layaway) ... The fellows at the shop thought it was just too heavy for a .223 and didn't really care for it ... I kinda like the weight myself ... Steel vs aluminum always wins in my book !! ratas calientes ... Thanks and as soon as I get it out of "Hock" I'll send the serial # and post some pics !! I get so much out of this site I've got to become a contributor !! .................................................. .................................................. .............

800 OTD is the best price I have ever heard of a 223 FAL going for regardless of condition. I have the invoice for mine and it cost more than that in '94.
Read ounces count and you can sweat your SAR down to the 8lb range which is on par with a M16-A2. |
