Thumbs up Leatherman honors guarantee +

Just thought I'd mention this in an era of pathetic "customer service".
I broke one of the screwdriver blades on my 5 year old Leatherman Wave. I did it, not a defect. (they make poor substitute prybars!)
So I sent it to Leatherman with a note explaining what I'd done & asked them to quote me to repair it.
It has been used a lot in the time I've had it, and even thoughh I take care of it the use is obvious.

It came back no charge with the broken blade replaced, the handles trued up from some previous over use, and the whole thing seemed to have been either steam, or ultrasonic cleaned.
Hats off to Leatherman.

I know! It's lost that "well lived in" look!
Now I'll have to start "aging" it all over again.

Umm, somebody in the firearms community actually still owns a Leatherman after his blatant support for anti-gun politicians, etc.?

They have fixed both of mine at least once. Mainly snapped screwdriver blades. No problems what-so-ever. As to supporting them, I didn't pay anything for either of my tools as they were gifts. I'll use them, but won't buy them.

Yes I do.
Now let me see if I have this right......
I'm sending something back for warranty repair. It's not costing me anything to have these guys fix it, including use of parts & labour, and shipping costs.
But it is costing them time & labour.
I've already paid for it years ago, so that money is already in thier bank.
Now I should let awarranty repair go, trash a good tool, and not take a few bucks out of thier hands.
RIGHT.
Now how exactly is this helping the shooting community?

Anti-gun or not, I still contend that the Leatherman tools are the best.

UI have had several different tools back to them for repair. And all of the problems were due to my heavy handedness. NEVER a charge. I even sent a $5.00 check to cover the return shipping once and they returned my check. Don't really care if they are anti gun, thier tool if the best. If I boycotted all of the anti-gun businesses, I would have to say at home.

Tim Leatherman is a POS.

He tossed the gun community under the bus quite some time ago. I have a few Leathman tools...but they all were purchased before Tim decided to play politics rather than build tools.

My money goes to Gerber. Gerber activey supports the troops....Leatherman fails in that regard.

as for putting it to Leatherman by sending them in for repairs....go for it....any money taken away from them is a-ok by me.

I'll take my Kershaw blades and tools over just about anyone's.

USA made and ya never hear any anti-gun crap outta them.

Politics is for politicians and asshole activists.

And folks like me who pretty much say whatever they want.

Talked to the leatherman guys at SHOT, and they showed me some of thier newer stuff..nice guys, casually mentioned the gun thing, and the guy said "yeah, but we aren't ALL like that".

Sad truth is, if you deal with ONLY pro gun companies, you wil not have too many choices. I prefer to deal with pro gun people, but the truth is like most people I have not researched where my gas, oil, soap, food, ect ORIGINATES from, and what the parent companies views are. Kinda like China- they make boatloads of goods for sale in the US, and I dare say the are not pro gun...

That said, the pro gun businesses I DO do use know that i apriciate that fact.

Yeah I need to send mine in. I broke the bottle/can opener trying to use it as an FAL Gas tube nut wrench Also broke the small screwdriver on it. I bought another one off of ebay (I still prefer the original to all of the newer variants) cause I didn't want to be without one when I send the broken one in for repairs.

I must also give props to great customer service from leatherman. I had an original leatherman that was about 15yrs old, that had seen lots of use/misuse while i was in.

About 3 months ago the retainging cap/thing broke off, so that all the tools in one end would flop around loose. I sent it in asking if it was possible to repair. They sent me a brand new "Wave" leatherman tool,no charge, no questions.
