Scout Mounted Glass

Who has scout rigs and what type of glass do you have? How's the eye relief? And, does the scope have any Paralax issues?

In looking around I haven't been able to find many scopes that are made specifically for a scout mount. Either the eye relief is too short (3 - 5") or in the case of many pistol scopes, eye relief seems too long (12 - 18"). I think I'm looking for a happy medium between 5 - 12" for an upcoming Mosin Nagant hunt package project.

Initially I was looking for a 3x lightweight rig that had proper eye relief and little to no paralax issues. The closest that I've found is a 2.5x Leupold with 9" of eye relief, only 10" long, and weighing in @ only 7.5 oz. But, I'd like to hear what others are using, because the Leupold is a bit spendy especially for this project.

Thanks in advance.

The Burris is popular at 2.75x and closer to $200.
Also a Leatherwood variable 2-7x available in $100- $130 range.

Haven't heard much good about the lower end leatherwoods.

Burris is a good quality scope, but I've got no experience with scout rigs myself. Curious about 'em, though.

I have the Leupold Scout Scope on my Remington Model Seven Scout. It may not be cheap but it is excellent quality, rugged and guaranteed forever. I have been shooting it for 6 or 7 years.

I have two scout scope equipped rifles; both having el cheapo NcStar scopes on them.

Can't say that I recommend them. When funds become available, I intend to replace them with models from Leupold .

Well, I went ahead and ordered the Leupold scope. I had a bunch of Cabela's points (gotta love that Cabela's credit card), so the scope won't cost me anything. Will report on it once it arives and I have a chance to get it mounted and taken to the range.
