A basic, cherry question
I found this site because I'm looking for my 1st FAL. I read the stickies and didn't find this...what's the difference between Metric and Inch FAL's? besides the obvious. Sorry for the cherry question, I'm sure some of you have answered it a hundred times.

In a nutshell, the Inch versions were used by England, Canada, and Australia. A few of the parts will interchange with the metric rifles, but not too many. Inch mags are less often encountered and tend to be about twice the price of metric mags. IIRC, Inch rifles can use either type of mag, although they may or may not feed with metric mags. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
Metric rifles were used by the rest of the free world (with exceptions, like the US), and parts, mags, and accessories are much more common and less expensive. There are mechanical differences also, like the way an Inch barrel is installed.
