Opinion On Sig 220 45 A.C.P
I have a offer to buy one like new in the box for 400.00 dollars. I never own a Sig or fired one, But what i read their good guns. I would like to hear some opinion on the Sig type guns. Also it has nite sights on it. It sounds like a good deal for 400 bucks.

It's a top quality pistol and that's a really good price. I need another .45 like I need a case of Moon Pies, but I'd buy it.

Smoking deal for the best single stack .45 out there.

$400 NIB with night sights? Buy it! If you decide you don't like it you won't lose money on it reselling it.
Is it the traditional style frame or the newer frame with the integral light rail? I just recently purchased a used 220 that looks like it might have been a police trade in. It's got some holster wear on the slide but other then that ok. Odd thing is it's one of the newer models with the rail. Shoots great. I've got a 226 in .40 S&W, but I find the 220 .45 to be easier to shoot accurately. |

I carried a personally owned P220 45 on duty for a number of years. I kept the issue as a backup. Mine is the most accurate out of the box auto I own, (read factory not custom). It's still my go to town gun. I couldn't even begin to tell you how many rounds that old girl has fired. If I had to guess I would say it's been well over 5000 and 10,000 wouldn't suprise me much at all. It's still just as accurate as the day I got it.
The finish is worn badly on the slide, most is gone. But the rails barely have a mark on them. It's that well balanced/fitted. The only problem I ever had was my fault. I carried it a lot, either tucked down the front of my pants or the back of them, (no holster). When I do this I have a bad habit of sticking 4 extra mag's in my back pockets. I end up sitting on them throughout the day. Needless to say I had some mag's that had feed lip issues once in awhile. What do you expect? Other than that, mine is a fine gun and a reliable friend. I about cried when the Government decided we had to carry the issue gun only. I think you will be happy with one!

About 5-6 years ago, there was a rather large release of P220's on the market. Most were used gov't turnins. I bought one. Could not have been happier. Still use as personal carry. Be sure to check the hammer type. the sharp spur type hammer is the older style. The rounded type is the new style. Unfortunately the new style hammer can not be put on the older style. I know this from a friends experience. Both are excellent fireams, and $400 is an outstanding price. Good luck

$400 is an excellent deal. I was just at a gun show yesterday, new 220's were running about $660 and the few used ones were on the high (very high) side of $550.
my cheap $00,000.02 worth of advice, buy it, if nothing else for an investment.

My P220 is from just after SIG changed the European butt-located mag release to the American behind the trigger configuration, I think circa 1980.
I've owned and fired a lot of .45 ACP semi-auto pistols. None compare with the P220. I even use mine for hunting Javelina. I was drawn this year, and will take it with me again. Accurate, reliable, comfortable, easy to clean and maintain, and good-looking to boot. Mine consistently shoots 1.5" 5 shot groups using Federal 230 grain "Hydra-Shoks". Not cheap, going price is sometimes around $700, but $400 for a NIB example is a smoking deal. They are worth the much higher new and used prices on the market, so this figure is one of those "deals of a lifetime". Be sure to let us know how well you like it when you try it out.

I grew up on the 1911A1, learned to shoot centerfire handgun with a 1911A1, worked on 1911A1s while a 2111 in the Marines, and own seven 1911-type pistols including a Series 70 Gold Cup, a Series 80 SS Govt Model, a Series 70 Combat Commander, a Series 80 Combat Commander, a Norinco 1911A1, and two Springfield MilSpecs. That should tell you where I come from.
I also own two SIG 220s, one is a Browning BDA 45 with heel mag release from the late 70s, the other is a newer blued SIG 220. I almost always take one or both of those to the range when I take 1911s shooting. Very smooth, very accurate, very ergonomic. Fun to shoot. ![]() That's an excellent price and IMO you cannot go wrong buying that 220. Noah

Since ya'll are talking about my 'NIC", I have to chime in!!
The Sig line of pistols are usually noted for smooth trigger pulls, I really, really like the Sig220.......the ONLY drawback is they are a little "boxy" for under the shirt carry......but thats why I have two 1911's!! Damn good price, NS were running about $90 extra.....of course that was a couple of years ago!! So along with the others.............Buy it!!

Well i bought it. I talk the gunshop owner down to 375.00 for the Sig.
It seem most people want a 40 cal instead of the good old 45 cal. I am very happy with it. One of my friends offer me 450.00 for it after he found out the Sig goes for a list price of 719.00.

you got a great deal.
my only (whiny) complaints against Sigs are they're expensive and the arrangement on the decocker/safety is different from what I'm used to. so saying, I just picked up a '245 recently for just a little more than what you paid. excellent gun. don't try to 'flip' it immediately. at best, you'll have a gun you'll wind up liking, a lot. at worst, you've got a good investment.
