Modifying a preban receiver
Is it possible/legal to make modifications to a pre-ban receiver? I would like to make my C2 kit look as authentic as possible and that includes using the original flash hidder. The only way that I can see to having it is to get a pre-ban metric receiver then turn it into an inch receiver.

Yes. So long as the pre-ban receiver existed as a complete rifle at the time of the ban. You may not modify/fabricate a pre-ban rifle from a receiver that was never assembled as a complete rifle.
BTW- this is also a LEGAL question. FWIW.

I'm still of the opinion of modifying only the parts that are least costly to replace. The preban receiver is very costly to replace, FWIW.

The best thing for you to do is hunt up a preban Lithgow receiver for your kit. They are out there.
