A little help, perhaps.
As some of you know I do a little woodworking for FALs, I have made a number of stocks and PG's for members and others. Here is the rub, I have been inendated with requests for various types of stock's, type A, type C Belgain, G1 etc. while I know a few and have made 4 different types I am looking for some sort of definitive list/picture/link of FAL stock types.
Any thoughts or great threads? Thanks in advance all. Merry Christmas

My best idea would be to surf the site for various pictures of the different FAL's and copy them off.
Here's an internal link to some at the bottom of hte page. FAL info

Blake Steven's book is a decent reference. I own and have read most of the FAL reference materials that are out there, and I don't recall any truly comprehensive and definitive document of the various FAL stock types.
It would probably be best for someone here that is truly experienced and knowledgable to help create a short list of the primary types, and then associate the specific model FAL's with the types, and then with verified drawings and pics. I can try to do that, however I'm not an expert, and I don't have all types to make drawings from, although I probably do have examples of most. If it were me, I would try to get my hands on a few originals to pattern after, if you're not already doing that. I and others on here could probably help. Off the top of my head, the short list of wooden stocks might include: Belgian Type-A (T48, EX series, FAL Canada, and other very early FAL's including some Israeli) Belgian Type-B (G1 and many early FALs, includes a FALO variant for the hinged buttplate, like the Israeli Heavy Barrel Romat) Belgian Type-C (Most later FAL's, including South African, Israeli standard barrel Romat, many others and a FALO varient for hinged buttplate) Austrian Stg-58 (only used on the Stg-58 as far as I know, and I don't know that there were even wood versions of this stock, originally?) L1A1 UK and Australian FNC1 Canadian (Belgian style buttplate) FNC1A1 Canadian (Unique Canadian Buttplate) Indian I know this proabaly doesn't help much, maybe even more confusing, and then there are the different lenght buttstocks, like the long South African type-C stocks. I'll see if maybe I can put it in a table to help organize the types. |

thanks
Falfegnügen, good info thanks for investing the time. I am investing in every hardbound book I can find and I am trying to buy beaten up versions of each.
I am currently making some Type A's for a customer, they are very tricky!
