L1A1 receiver: Imbel/DSA

I will admit I have not spent as much time here as I should, or I would probably have learned the answer to this. I have an L1A1 British Kit and inch mags. Please tell me why the DSA receiver is worth the $100.00 + more than the Imbel Inch receiver. I am aware of the US parts issue. Beyond that why is the DSA commanding an extra premium.

Allow me to muddy the water further and introduce a third offering, the Entreprise Arms inch receiver. It is the most authentic looking and is a quality piece. I have two.

It depends on what you want to do. If you want to build a replica L1A1 or C1A1, using the original wood or pebble-grain plastic furniture, you pretty much have to. The U.S. made receivers are one more U.S. part. If you want to use authentic British, Canadian or Australian furniture, you will probably need the U.S. receiver to make the parts count. The IMBEL is Brazilian.

We have U.S. made folding cocking handles, simulated flash hider/muzzle thingies, hammer/trigger/sear sets and gas pistons. Unless you want to use magazine followers in all your mags, you need the receiver.

And yet one more - the William's Aluminum Inch receiver - the metrics held up to some pretty good torture tests, but no one's really said much about the inch pattern yet - I may have to be the first......

The williams receiver will take Inch mags right out of the box, although a tight fit.
On the new Williams Inch receiver, they'll open the notch a few thousandths.

Pretty much ready to go.

DSA is a forged receiver, then milled. Extra labor= extra cost. It is, however, a Type 1 Metric, period.

The IMBEL is a forged Metric pattern, modified to accept inch parts.

The Entreprise is an Inch-pattern, true to form, and works well. I have George Gouger assembling mu UE L1A1 onto an Inch Entreprise.

The Inch receiver, forged or cast, has a few more cuts made, and thereby can cost a bit more.

A Glass To You, Mark.

You're not quite there, although you are leading in the smacking Mojo around category.

I hope Ted's okay and his absence is his choice.

Damn i'd never heard anyone mention that about the entreprise inch receivers being more accurately made than the dsa's. What makes them more accurately like the original inch receivers?

Kotengu hasn't posted since December of 2006, maybe he actually built the Alumabomb and test fired it?
